Useful Tips for Browsing PABLO:
- For one item in the archive, there is a separate entry for each collection it has been in (for search optimization purposes). All entries for the same item have the same PABLO ID number.
- “Collections” refers to all owners, including museums and people.
User Search Guide
If you would like to do a general search on ProvenanceABLO, simply enter one or more keywords into either:
- the search bar at the top-right corner of any webpage, or
- the “Search for Keywords” box.
If you would like to perform a more detailed search, access the “Advanced Search” page by either:
- clicking on the three dots beside the search bar at the top-right corner of any webpage, then clicking Advanced Search, or
- clicking on the Browse Items tab, then clicking Search Items.
Advanced Search Example
Let’s say we would like to search for a Gem owned in the year 1941 by the Capitoline Museum.
- We can select Gem from the Search by Type dropdown menu.
- We can select the Years Owned field from the dropdown menu under Field, then select contains from the dropdown menu under Type, then enter 1941 into the search bar under Terms.
- We can select Capitoline Museum by either:
- selecting Capitoline Museum from the dropdown menu under Search by Collection, or
- clicking Add a Field, then selecting the Owner field from the dropdown menu under Field, then select contains from the dropdown menu under Type, then enter Capitoline Museum into the search bar under Terms.
